Dry Needling Therapy Main Line, PA

Dry needling is a practical, fast – acting treatment for people who have pain and limitations due to musculoskeletal injuries or chronic pain. Whether youre managing pain from a sports injury or have had chronic pain for years due to things like degenerative changes, nerve pain, or chronic inflammation, dry needling can often help.

At Primal Physical Therapy, our clinicians are experts in dry needling, and our founder, Dr. JJ Thomas DPT, CMTPT, FDNS, not only specializes in dry needling, she literally “wrote the book” of standards for practice for physical therapists.

She and the rest of our team will take the time to understand your symptoms, your goals, and what’s keeping you from living comfortably. We’re here to help you move better and feel like yourself again.

What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling performed by a physical therapist uses a filament needle to treat muscle and fascial restrictions, pain, joint stiffness, and inflammation due to mechanical or postural deficits in the body. The name comes from the fact that there’s no medication in the needle—it’s “dry”, as opposed to a trigger point injection, which would be a “wet” technique.

Treating Symptoms with Dry Needling

Dry needling is a very effective treatment for many common injuries, aches and pains. It is part of a comprehensive treatment plan, that includes uncovering the root causes of your injury, addressing those limitations, and giving you a plan to make sure the symptoms don’t reoccur.

The dry needling technique provides us with a very effective, quick way to reset the muscles, reduce pain and inflammation, and facilitate a larger plan for your full recovery and return to your favorite activities in life.

Primal Physical Therapy dry needling relieves many of the below symptoms:
  • Headaches
  • Neck pain
  • Back pain
  • Sports injury pain
  • Tendonitis

  • Carpal tunnel
  • Other chronic pain syndromes
